The ongoing global impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has underscored the importance of health education, particularly within vulnerable communities. For this community educational project, I have chosen to focus on the coronavirus and its effects on the Hispanic community served by Humboldt Park Health. This choice stems from the observed disparities in healthcare access, COVID-19 testing, vaccination rates, and health literacy faced by this population. Addressing these issues is vital to improving health outcomes and fostering community resilience.

My selected site for this educational presentation is Humboldt Park Health, where I am currently employed. This hospital serves a predominantly Hispanic population in the Humboldt Park neighborhood. The community is characterized by strong cultural ties, but also faces socioeconomic challenges that have been exacerbated during the pandemic. The site was chosen because it offers direct access to the community I aim to educate, and because it provides a familiar environment where the impact of COVID-19 can be contextualized within their cultural, social, and economic realities.

The presentation is scheduled to take place on December 3rd at Humboldt Park Health. This date is strategically chosen to coincide with ongoing community health initiatives, and to maximize attendance before the holiday season begins. The goal is to enhance health literacy related to COVID-19 prevention, vaccination, and treatment options, tailored specifically to the community's linguistic and cultural needs.

While the site selection process is finalized, I am considering additional options such as community centers or local clinics, to widen outreach and ensure accessibility. My plans include collaborating with community leaders and healthcare professionals to solidify the site and tailor the educational content effectively. This approach aims to foster trust and engagement within the community, thereby facilitating better health outcomes related to COVID-19 prevention and management.

In conclusion, selecting Humboldt Park Health as the site for this educational project aligns with the need to address COVID-19 disparities within the Hispanic community. The targeted presentation on December 3rd will serve as an essential step toward improving health literacy and empowering residents to make informed health decisions. I am committed to developing culturally sensitive, accessible education to support community well-being during this ongoing pandemic.
