Summative Guidance Templatethis Assessment Comprises Two Parts Both

This assessment comprises TWO parts. BOTH parts of the assessment are INDIVIDUAL pieces of work. BOTH parts will be submitted as a SINGLE document. (You will submit ONE piece of work to Turnitin containing Part A and Part B).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE STRUCTURE AND CONTENT OF THE SUMMATIVE:

  1. Create a cover page outlining the name of the university, name of the program and module, name of the tutor, and the name of the student.
  2. In a separate page followed by the cover page, start the PART A - Reflective Analysis (words in length) that counts of 50% of the overall grade.
  3. In your PART A - Reflective Analysis please make sure to address the following:
    • At the beginning of the module you have identified ONE personal skill that you aimed to develop and improve throughout the module. Your Reflective Analysis will detail WHAT YOU DID to improve that skill and HOW EFFECTIVE your efforts have been.
    • Create a titled Introduction that outlines the importance of the selected skill. In the introduction you are also advised to describe the general nature of the skill with certain theoretical justification (i.e., text-citations/references) and provide proof for the necessity of the skill’s improvement (maybe by adding additional information from your work environment which may have influenced your skill’s selection and need for improvement).
    • Finally, your introduction may be concluded/ended with the purpose of Part A, e.g., ‘This paper seeks to provide information from a reflective nature of the skill…’ The introduction should be approximately 400 words.
    • The main body of your Part A – Reflective Analysis (approximately 2300 words) should be divided into sub-chapters while exploring the role of the skill in different fields of study, e.g., ‘The importance of time management skill towards productivity’. Make sure to establish clear evidence of the importance of improving the skill in relation to the areas most affected by its use. While discussing the skill’s impact on certain fields, REMEMBER to include METHODS used to improve that skill and discuss HOW EFFECTIVE your efforts have been. Support your assertions with appropriate theoretical information, especially linking the skill to specific areas.
    • Conclude your PART A - Reflective Analysis with a conclusion of approximately 300 words.
    • In a separate page after your conclusion, include the reference list of ALL resources used and text-cited in Part A. References do not count in the word limit.
  4. In a separate page after your PART A, start PART B - Report (words in length) that also counts for 50% of the overall grade.
    • For Part B – Report, examine a Job Description for an Operation Manager's position. Select an advert for an Operation Manager role from any online recruitment agency; include the advert as an Appendix to your Report.
    • Using appropriate theory, literature, techniques, and approaches encountered in the module, discuss:
      • Likely operational challenges faced by the successful candidate (20%)
      • How to address the main issues (80%)
    • Create a titled Introduction outlining the nature of Operations Management with specific use of theoretical frameworks/resources, concluding with the purpose of Part B, e.g., ‘Finally, this paper seeks to identify possible operational challenges of the operational manager of the advert XYZ…’ The introduction should be approximately 400 words.
    • The main body of Part B (approximately 2300 words) should be divided into sub-chapters exploring operational challenges and proposed solutions, supported by relevant theory, literature, and techniques (e.g., JIT/lean, quality control, agile strategies).
    • Conclude Part B with a summary of approximately 300 words.
    • Include all resources used in a separate reference list after the conclusion; references do not count in the word limit.
    • Append the Job Advert as an Appendix.
