Term Paper For Germany Programtopic Whats The Difference It Is A Pu
Different countries have different cultures; as well different countries’ citizens also have their own style of love, happiness, values and lives. I am a Chinese International Student from Penn State, who lived in China around 18 years in several different cities. This summer, I spent around two months in different European Countries.
I can strongly feel the different style of life from China. However, in the beginning, I cannot explain the real difference I felt. I tried tons of time to find out the answer in my mind. I keep asking myself, is it Culture, Language, the way they talk, or the way they think? It is around 8 pm; I was walking on a quiet street in France beside the symbol of France, the Eiffel Tower and thinking the answer for my question.
It is a little bit cold and quiet, but it is fulfilled romantic smell. I saw some couples were kissing deeply on the street; I also saw lots of nice dressing elders were talking with their confidence smile and eating some delicious seafood with cup of wine in the restaurant. When I first day arrived Germany around 10 pm, I saw people were eating the pig knees and sausages with Germany beers on the street with simple smiles during the special period, the beer festival. People also showing their relax smiles and sitting on the old bridge with some snacks, ice cream, and liquor; keep talking to 3 to 4 am, in Florence, Italy. Finally, I found out my answer.
Look at there, it is my answer, the smell on their faces, which are simple, pure, relax from inside. Summary Europe, a superpower in the modern society, is leading the development of the world with their soft power. The purpose of development of European countries is more focus on competitive business, economic strength, real family value, health care and fundamental structure (1). Therefore, people lived in Europe are more happy and have less pressure from living than China, because of their value of family, fundamental social structure, and their living conditions. Life in China China, one of the developing countries, has the highest potential power to grow in the future.
It also has the one of the largest population in the world, therefore, people lived in China has higher pressure to find couple and jobs. Therefore, people have to study harder and improve themselves harder, in order to get a better job in China. People lived in China have to work harder and harder, as a result, sometimes they gave up the chances to enjoy the time with family. Lots of people in China lived in different cities with their couples, because of higher salaries. With the developing of the technology, tons of information involved people’s mind from all over the world.
Accurate and inaccurate information deliver to Chinese parents. For example, American is the best country for your child to live, because the foods in china is not healthy; meanwhile it has less pressure to find job and live, because of their higher salary (3). As a result, tons of parents work so hard, in order to create the a better living conditions for their children to study aboard. “I have to work hard, because I want to buy the best thing for my children, such as best clothes, houses, toys and cars, because I do not want my children to feel shame when he or she stay with his or her friends who has everything,†the majority of parents in China has the same thoughts (4).
Thus, Chinese parents always are tired, because they think they should be responsible for their children with entire lives. Making money became their main jobs for their children (4). In China, money, reputation, and social standards is everything, so that people lived in china have to get respect based on them. People, who have money, can do almost everything in China. It is part of Chinese Culture. Without money, you cannot live in China, because of Chinese incomplete fundamental structure, such as unemployment system, health care system, retirement system, and education system.
People have to prepare tons of money for their unpredicted future, because they have to pay for majority for these accidents by themselves (5). Although Chinese government has the welfare for China, it is not enough for all people, because of its large population. What do you want in your life? Money! What’s the most important thing for you to create happy lives for your family?
It is money! It is one of the aspects of China. As a result, the majority of Chinese parents become the slaves for money and their children. Some of them even gave up the time to stay with family, health, and the time to enjoy their lives. They lost the pure smile on their face, which is simple, pure, relax from inside.
Life in Europe People lived in European is lucky, because they have less pressure to live than China. Family is always the most important in Europe. European countries also did lots of better than China based on their fundamental structure and social welfare, that include parental leave, Child Care, Kiddie Stipends, Balancing work and leisure, Health Care, Education, Affording Housing, food standard, and Poor family and Unemployed (1). Parental leave In Europe, it is norm to pay for parental leave from work for both mothers and fathers following childbirth or to take care a sick child; as well it is legally to take her back with the same position. “In Sweden, mothers get an incredible 1.3 years (69 weeks)†off and receive about 2/3 of their salary; in Norway, it will get up to 80 percent of the salary. (1)†Although some countries do not have the same percentage of money for parental leave, it is almost the similar level.
As a result, parents have less pressure to have a baby in Europe. Child Care The early education system is also better in Europe. “In most European countries, after parents caring their newborn during the first year or two years, the infant will goes to a professional state-run or state certified day care provider (1).“ However, the fee for the Child Care is lower, which is only few percent of parents’ salary. Sweden and Denmark did very well on Child Care in Europe, because it is free for Denmark and is around 60 dollars per month in Sweden. In some European countries is little bit higher, but it is still a less percent of parents’ salary compared with America, which cost around $500 per month.
Therefore, parents have less pressure to take care of their Children. Kiddie Stipends Parents in Europe also have less pressure to feed their children. “Parents in most European nations received a monthly benefit check from the government for the first eighteen years of each Child’s life, “ which means they can use the money to foods, clothes, toys and anything they need (1). Therefore, parents will have less pressure on feeding their children, because the responsibility of taking care of children will be shared with their government. Balancing work and leisure Family value is always the most important for Europe.
As well, the time to stay with their family is the most important. Therefore, European people spend less time on working compared with other countries. “In America, people need to work an average of 1,976 hours per year, however German and French workers average some 400 fewer hours, which also has around seven weeks days off†(1). As a result, people has more time to relax their lives and spent more than with their family. Compared with China, the majority people work whole days with a lower salary compared with Europe.
As well, for some jobs even no holiday and break. Having a vacation with their family become a luxurious time for their lives. The pressure from lives makes people in China have to work harder and harder. Health Care For health care, it also cost less compared with China. The reason is that Chinese Health Care system is not complete; tons of people will spend almost 90% of saving on health care at the end of their lives.
However, in Europe, people just need to pay less amount of salary for their health care. For example, “a similar Dutch policy, by contrast, has cost $390 per month with no co-pays and included dental coverage that cover around 90%â€(1). As a result, European people have less pressure and worry from health care. Education “Education will also make Europe people has less pressure, because the tuition remains free or nearly free. (1)†The education in European is more excellent than China, as well it has lower cost, which mean education is free and possible for all people. “In Germany, some of the state university cost around 600 dollars per years for tuitions compared with the 25,000 dollars for private college and 7,000 dollars for public college in American†(1).
The education has lower restriction for people who live in Europe. As a result, parents do not need to prepare tons of money for the education for their children; as well education is the necessary in Europe. Poor family and Unemployed Government always focuses on building the good living standard for their citizens. Citizens are the most important for their countries. “Europe particularly stands out when it comes to helping poor families, based on the support on health care, unemployment support and the supporting system with newborn babyâ€(1).
The purpose and target for them is to help people to have a basic living standard with enough foods. Therefore, less people have nothing to eat and no clothes to wear compared with China that has the largest population in the world. All in all, people in Europe are happier, because they have less pressure to live. Food Standard The most important thing is about foods. Foods, the most important thing, has higher standard in Europe, which are healthy, clean, and less chemical material inside.
Citizens’ health is always the most important for their countries. “EU also set up the floor price for agriculture products, because they want to ensure fair price to consumers†(7). “Although the price for some of the foods they produce is higher than the agriculture products in the developing countries, their foods’ quality is better, because the EU’s agriculture standard is so high†(8). Therefore, the high quality products match with their price, which provide the fair price to consumers and also increase the living standard and welfare for their citizens and consumers. As a result, the foods for European citizens are worried free compared with Chinese fake eggs, beefs, and toxic milk powder.
Conclusion
All in all, European is happier than Chinese people, who has less pressure from living, because they just need to work less time and get an enough salary to afford their family. Meanwhile, the fundamental structure and social welfare are also complete which also helped them to shared the responsibility with family, such as the parental leave, Child Care, Kiddie Stipends, Balancing work and leisure, Health Care, Education, Affording Housing, food standard, and Poor family and Unemployed. As a result, they always has a beautiful smell on their faces that are simple, pure, and relax from inside. What is happiness? What is happiness?
I think over and over and I find out the definition of happiness. For majority of people, happy represented by money, reputation and social standard in China. Tons of people forgot to enjoy their lives, and pursuing the material lives they thought is cool. Walking in the different countries of Europe, I can find the real happiness on people’s face that described by their simple, pure and relaxed smiles. Happiness is not money, reputation, and social standard.
