Dear Donor,

My name is Kyrah Coone, and I am proud to be a 2023 recipient of the Lettie Pate Whitehead Scholarship in the VCU School of Nursing. I am sincerely grateful for the generosity and support that made this scholarship possible, and I want to express my heartfelt thanks for your contribution to my educational journey.

Choosing VCU for my college education was a decision rooted in the university’s outstanding nursing program, renowned faculty, and strong community focus. I have always been passionate about healthcare and making a positive impact on people's lives. This scholarship significantly alleviates financial burdens, allowing me to focus more intensely on my studies and clinical experiences. VCU’s School of Nursing offers an enriching environment that aligns perfectly with my career aspirations of becoming a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). I am particularly drawn to the innovative psychiatric nursing coursework and the opportunity to serve diverse patient populations, which prepares me to make meaningful contributions in mental health care.

My journey at VCU has been incredibly rewarding so far. I am enjoying the challenging coursework, engaging with compassionate faculty, and building lasting relationships with peers who share my dedication to healthcare. Nursing has always been my passion, driven by a desire to help others and advocate for mental health awareness. The support from this scholarship motivates me to persevere through the demanding academic environment and keeps my goal of becoming a PMHNP within reach. I am committed to utilizing my education not only for personal success but also to give back to my community, especially in underserved populations.

Once again, thank you for your generous gift. Your support has made a tangible difference in my educational journey and inspires me to work diligently towards my professional goals. I am excited to continue my studies at VCU and to ultimately serve as a mental health advocate and provider who makes a positive impact in the community.

Sincerely,

Kyrah Coone
