Faced with this dilemma, I reflected on the approaches discussed in chapters 6 and 7 of our textbook, which encompass consequentialism, deontology, and virtue ethics. Initially, I considered a consequentialist approach, analyzing the potential outcomes of exposing the team member's misconduct versus maintaining confidentiality. The responsible action, from this perspective, was to address the misconduct to prevent financial loss and uphold the company's reputation. However, I was also mindful of deontological principles, emphasizing moral duties and rights, particularly the duty to honesty and integrity. According to Kantian ethics, I had an obligation to disclose information that would prevent harm, regardless of the consequences for the team member or the project.

Using a combination of these approaches, I decided to confront the team member privately and request an explanation for their withholding of information. The project was completed successfully, with no financial loss or damage to the company's reputation. Reflecting on this experience, I was satisfied with the outcome because I managed to uphold ethical standards while also ensuring practical success. I felt that applying these ethical approaches helped me navigate the dilemma effectively, balancing moral duties with the potential consequences.

In conclusion, addressing this ethical dilemma required a thoughtful integration of consequentialist and deontological principles, as discussed in our coursework. This approach not only resolved the immediate issue but also reinforced a culture of honesty and accountability within my team.
