The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly impacted families worldwide, creating a tapestry of challenges and adaptations that have reshaped daily life. Reflecting on my own family's experience offers insight into how we navigated the most difficult times, highlighting both struggles and unexpected growth.
One of the most immediate and palpable effects of the pandemic was the disruption to employment and income stability. Like many families, mine faced layoffs and reduced working hours, leading to financial stress and uncertainty. The shift to remote work blurred the boundaries between professional and personal life, often resulting in feelings of exhaustion and frustration, especially for parents juggling work and caregiving responsibilities simultaneously. The economic strain also influenced decisions about essential expenses, healthcare, and education, forcing us to prioritize and reorganize our budgets. Despite these hardships, this period compelled us to develop new financial strategies and bolster our resilience, such as budgeting more meticulously and exploring supplemental income sources.

With restrictions on gatherings and closures of public spaces, children missed out on playdates and extracurricular activities that typically foster social development.
