The Penn State server is the web space you applied for at the beginning of this semester. Your home page should contain various features, characteristics, and suggestions, described below:
The website you create will be for a company called BoarDome owned by brothers Will and John Smith. This company sells snowboards and surfboards. The Smith guys want to showcase their company and begin to sell their boards and related products online. This site is meant to showcase the products and sell them to a broader market outside of Ohio.
1. The website should be at least three pages in length. Remember quality is better than quantity. The first page, the index page, will have information about BoarDome. It will say welcome and present a sale for a discount on all products especially the Boogie brand board which will be at 50% off for the month of December. There will be pictures of some of the products on this page.
2. The second page will be the About page. It will show pictures of the owners and contain the following content (you can just copy and paste the text): "Having trained in Hawaii, we appreciate the artistic freedom we have here in the US. Creativity is embraced by a fervent core of consumers, and we are happy to serve that audience with our experience in traditional methods, selection of choice, and the best processing that technology can offer us. We relish the opportunity to please both ourselves and our audience with our awesome board creations. We've invested more than our lives in this." - Will and John Smith, Owners. 3. The third page should be the products page, featuring images of the products and company locations, including pictures of the boards.
4. The following mandatory items must be included in your home page:
- 3 links — one to another site, one to a page within your site, and one email link.
- Include at least 2 images on your site (you can use the images provided or import your own).
- You may link to a video if desired.
- Maintain consistent navigation across pages.
- Use a background image or color on your pages.
- Incorporate color(s) in your pages.
- Include a table in your page (for layout or to display content).
- Ensure all images have alt tags (text descriptions).
- Every page should have a title in the title bar and include keywords.
- Display the logo on every page with a link back to the homepage.
Evaluation Criteria include overall quality, branding consistency, proper links, images with alt tags, background, table use, internet publishing, title and keywords, navigation consistency, and adherence to the requirements, totaling 50 points.
