Week 3 Course Project Topic Selection

Week 3 Course Project Topic Selection

Conduct a research project on a person who significantly influenced a social, economic, or political movement in the 20th or 21st century, to be presented in Week 8. The project should include a summary of the person's ideas, their impact on the status quo, the context of their proposals, and the responses from government and the public. Additionally, analyze the following: the following/support they gained and how their ideas have influenced contemporary culture and ideas. For the current assignment, you must state your chosen topic, identify at least three aspects of the issue that you plan to develop in your presentation (with brief explanations), and submit this in 1-2 paragraphs formatted according to APA style. This assignment is due by Sunday at 11:59 p.m., and will be graded based on the length, clarity of main ideas, and writing mechanics.

Paper For Above instruction

The topic I have chosen for my research project is the influence of Martin Luther King Jr. on the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. This influential figure's ideas centered around nonviolent protest and racial equality, which challenged the established social and political norms of segregation and racial discrimination prevalent in the mid-20th century America. I plan to explore three main aspects of this issue: (1) King's philosophy of nonviolent resistance and its philosophical roots, (2) the impact of his leadership on legislative changes such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and (3) how his ideas continue to shape contemporary social justice movements. I selected these aspects because they collectively demonstrate the depth and enduring relevance of King's influence, and understanding these will allow me to develop a comprehensive presentation that goes beyond surface-level information. As I progress, I may identify additional relevant aspects, such as the role of media or opposition faced by King, which I will incorporate as needed.
