Personally, I find the Cornell Method to be most effective due to its structured format that encourages active engagement and review of material. This method involves dividing the paper into cue, note-taking, and summary sections, which facilitates better organization and recall (Pauk, 2014). However, I recognize that the optimal note-taking technique may vary depending on the course content. For instance, in courses requiring visual understanding, such as anatomy or engineering, mapping or charting might be more appropriate to visualize complex relationships.
Additionally, the nature of the course and the instructor’s teaching style can influence the choice of method. For a class that emphasizes critical reading and discussion, the Cornell Method allows for easy review during exam preparations.
