It involves activities such as learning new competencies, attending training sessions, and gaining exposure to different roles within an organization or industry. For example, participating in workshops or pursuing higher education are typical career development initiatives aimed at enhancing one's capabilities (Blustein, 2013).

In contrast, career management involves the strategic planning and ongoing control of one's career trajectory. It entails setting clear goals regarding desired positions, compensation, work-life balance, and personal fulfillment, then devising actionable steps to achieve these objectives.
