In a diverse healthcare setting such as a 250-bed acute care hospital, improving patient satisfaction scores, particularly regarding pain management, requires a comprehensive strategy that engages all staff members. The challenge presented reflects persistent underperformance of three units, with scores below comparison benchmarks. To address this, effective strategies must foster staff participation, promote accountability, and create a culture of continuous improvement centered on patient outcomes.
One of the foundational steps towards increasing patient satisfaction involves fostering a shared sense of purpose among staff members. This can be achieved through team-based approaches that emphasize collaborative goal-setting and problem-solving. Leaders should facilitate discussions that allow staff to voice their perspectives, identify barriers to effective pain management, and develop collective solutions (Kincead, 2019). Such inclusive practices help build ownership and motivation to meet the set objectives.
Transparency and ongoing communication are crucial components.
