Today’s generation may not understand the struggle women have had to endure before getting to be placed on the board of committees in a company or organization. A woman today is capable of running a company, let alone owning it. This did not come easy, as most women had to fight for their place and struggle for their independence and position. According to the International Labor Office, women make up about forty percent of the labor force. The article states that many women are actively engaged in productive employment, contributing to sustainable economies and fostering faster economic growth.
Despite these advancements, women have not yet fully achieved equality in the workforce. Challenges remain, and milestones still need to be attained. This paper aims to analyze the changes over the past fifty years concerning women’s employment, highlight key milestones, challenges, and opportunities, and explore the role of influential women who have contributed to improving women’s position in the workforce and society at large. The objective is also to project future trends and predict the evolution of women’s employment. Analyzing a combination of secondary data from peer-reviewed articles and primary data from women actively working in traditionally male-dominated fields will provide a comprehensive understanding of the progress and ongoing challenges faced by women in employment today.
