Writing the Body Paragraph (30 points) Create one body paragraph to follow the introduction that you wrote for Assignment 10
Create one body paragraph to follow the introduction that you wrote for Assignment 10. It is important to note that if you were developing a full five-paragraph essay, you would write three body paragraphs, one for each of the three points in your thesis statement. Here, however, you will only be required to develop the first supporting point from your thesis statement.
Before you begin this assignment, reread your introductory paragraph from Assignment 10. Create a strong topic sentence to direct your body paragraph. Remember that this body paragraph must flow smoothly from your introduction. As you create your body paragraph, use the scoring rubric below as a checklist to ensure you have all the necessary components to your paragraph. Remember to use quotation marks, if necessary, when using a source to support your body paragraph.
List any sources at the bottom of the page. Submit the introduction that you wrote for Assignment 10 along with your body paragraph. Although you are only being graded on the body paragraph, you must make any necessary changes to the introduction based on your instructor's feedback. Your instructor will be looking for a strong connection between the topic sentence of your body paragraph and the first supporting point from your thesis statement, which facilitates seamless movement from your introduction to the body of your essay.
Your body will be scored using the following rubric:
- The body paragraph has a strong topic sentence that supports the thesis statement. 5 points
- The body paragraph has strong, vivid, detailed support. 5 points
- The movement from the introduction to the body paragraph is graceful, natural, and seamless. 5 points
- Transitional words are used within the body paragraph. 5 points

The importance of environmental conservation cannot be overstated, as it is essential for maintaining the health of our planet and ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come. A key aspect of conservation involves reducing pollution, which directly impacts air and water quality. For instance, excessive emissions from industries and vehicles contribute to smog formation and acid rain, harming ecosystems and human health alike (Environmental Protection Agency, 2022). Additionally, improper waste disposal introduces toxins into soil and water sources, leading to irreversible damage to wildlife habitats (World Wildlife Fund, 2021). Implementing stricter regulations on emissions and waste management can significantly mitigate these impacts. Community-led initiatives, such as local recycling programs and tree-planting drives, also play a vital role in fostering environmental responsibility among citizens. In conclusion, addressing pollution through legislative action and community participation is vital for safeguarding our environment and ensuring a sustainable future for all.
