You Are Required To Submit Brief Essays Which Discuss Current News Art

You are required to submit brief essays which discuss current news articles that relate to public policy. The purpose of this assignment is to encourage you to evaluate current public policy issues and their treatment in the media in light of the concepts covered in the readings and discussions occurring in the course. The news articles you select must illustrate a real-world application, or, where appropriate, a lack of application, of one or more of the concepts covered in the readings of the same module/week. Your essays must be critical reviews of the articles, meaning that you must provide your own analysis regarding the articles, rather than simply summarizing them.

Paper For Above instruction

The assignment requires students to write concise, critical essays analyzing current news articles related to public policy. These essays should demonstrate an understanding of the article's content through summarization, followed by analytical reflection that connects the article's themes to theoretical concepts discussed in "Politics for Christians" by Francis J. Beckwith, specifically chapters 3–5 and the conclusion. The goal is to evaluate how effectively current events are framed and addressed in the media concerning public policy issues, and whether these representations align with or diverge from the concepts covered in the course readings.

Students must select articles from reputable news sources such as newspapers, news programs, or credible internet outlets. The articles should be recent, published within the last month, and should each focus on different topics to ensure diversity in discussion. It is essential to avoid using follow-up or duplicate articles on the same issue to maintain a range of perspectives across submissions.

The essays are expected to be between half a page and one page, double-spaced. Each essay must include a brief summary of the article to demonstrate comprehension, an identification of key elements related to public policy, and a critical analysis connecting these elements to the theoretical concepts from Beckwith's book. Students should cite the article fully in Turabian style, including the publication date, and include either a link or the full text of the article if possible.

The purpose of this assignment is to foster critical thinking and media literacy, encouraging students to evaluate how public policy issues are represented and understood in contemporary media. By integrating course concepts with current news, students will develop their ability to analyze the intersection of religion, politics, and society in real-world contexts.
