Your Job For This Week Is To Create A Proposal That Includes The Follo
Your job for this week is to create a proposal that includes the following: You have the option of two types of research. Please note that in future weeks you will be asked to source some data that can then be used for charts and analysis. Consider this as you select the technology you want to discuss. Contact your instructor if you have any concerns or questions about your topic. The two options for your research are below.
You only need to pick one of them for your document. Research a medicine, vaccine, or drug that can help with diseases or a patient's health care. Some examples could be: Cancer, Mental Health, Infectious diseases, Brain disorders, HIV/AIDS, etc. Research a technology that can potentially be implemented or is already used in a health care setting. Some examples could be: Virtual Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Internet of Medical Things, Innovative medical equipment, etc.
Create a folder under your COMP150 research folder called "Week 3 Draft". Next, create a new Word document and name the file "YourName_COMP150_W3_Assignment.docx". You will then write a two to three-page draft that discusses the following topics and create a PDF version of your work. If your selected technology has other areas that you would like to discuss, feel free to discuss them as well:
- Technology, medicine or drug background (what it does, how does it work? etc.)
- Benefits of a technology, medicine or drug
- Costs
- Reasons why it should be considered for implementation
- Risks and final considerations
Apply the different formatting and options as provided below. All APA guidelines apply to this document except for some requests as detailed below. Please note that these requests may go against the overall APA guidelines but are used to determine your understanding of the concepts explained in the course.
The company's colors are blue and gold. Select and apply a theme that matches these colors. Include a separate cover page with the title of your company (Chamberlain Research Lab). Make sure to apply an effect to the title and change the title's color to blue.
Change the font size to 14 and the font type to "Calibri". Make the first paragraph spacing 3.0 and add a border around it. The rest should follow APA formatting. Make sure to include at least one list of items (numbered or bulleted). Modify the paragraph style options to be size 14 and Calibri type.
Change page margins to 0.5 inches for all sides. Create a header that includes the date and page number. Create a footer that includes your name and the course code COMP150.
Paper For Above instruction
The proposal process begins with selecting a relevant healthcare technology or medicine that addresses current health challenges and offers potential benefits for patient care. This involves thorough research into the background of the chosen subject, including its mechanism of action, development stages, and application in healthcare settings. The importance of understanding both the technological and medicinal aspects ensures that the proposal encapsulates comprehensive insights into the subject’s functionality and significance.
Background of the Technology or Medicine
If opting for a medicine or drug, such as a vaccine against infectious diseases like COVID-19, it is essential to discuss its biological mechanism—how it stimulates the immune system, its development process, and its deployment in healthcare. Conversely, if selecting a healthcare technology like Artificial Intelligence (AI), the background should include an explanation of AI systems’ algorithms, machine learning capabilities, and integration within medical workflows. Such foundational knowledge helps stakeholders grasp the core purpose and operational frameworks of the selected subject.
Benefits of the Technology or Medicine
Highlighting benefits includes improved patient outcomes, enhanced diagnostic accuracy, reduced treatment times, and cost-effectiveness. For example, AI-driven diagnostics can identify diseases earlier than traditional methods, potentially saving lives and reducing healthcare costs. Similarly, vaccines have eradicated or controlled numerous infectious diseases, preventing morbidity and mortality on large scales. Emphasizing these benefits provides a compelling argument for adoption and further development.
Costs and Financial Considerations
Cost analysis should consider development expenses, implementation costs, training needs, and maintenance. Technologies like blockchain require investments in infrastructure and cybersecurity measures, whereas medicines involve research and manufacturing costs. Assessing these costs relative to potential savings or health benefits demonstrates the financial feasibility and sustainability of integrating the new technology or medicine into healthcare systems.
Rationale for Implementation
Deciding to implement a technology or medicine involves evaluating its alignment with healthcare goals, regulatory approval status, and scalability potential. For instance, AI tools that enhance clinical decision-making can lead to faster diagnoses and personalized treatments, supporting overall healthcare quality. Justifying the implementation emphasizes how the innovation addresses existing gaps, complies with regulations, and aligns with institutional objectives.
Risks and Final Considerations
Identifying risks such as data security vulnerabilities in AI or vaccine side effects is essential. Strategies for risk mitigation, ongoing assessments, and addressing ethical concerns should be included. Final considerations involve summarizing the potential impact, addressing barriers to adoption, and outlining future research or development steps. A balanced view of benefits and risks aids stakeholders in making informed decisions about adopting the proposed technology or medicine.
Conclusion
Developing a comprehensive proposal requires integrating scientific background, benefits, costs, justifications, and risk assessments. This structured approach ensures clarity, persuasiveness, and alignment with healthcare priorities. Whether focusing on innovative medical drugs or advanced technological solutions, a well-organized proposal serves as a strategic tool for advancing healthcare improvements.
