Among the three primary cloud service models—Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)—each caters to specific operational needs and strategic objectives. This paper discusses the selection of a cloud provider suitable for a chosen service model, emphasizing its advantages over other providers.

Selection of Cloud Service Model and Providers

For this analysis, I have selected the Platform as a Service (PaaS) model, which offers a comprehensive environment for developing, deploying, and managing applications without the complexity of infrastructure management. The three prominent cloud providers I researched are Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Each of these providers offers robust PaaS solutions tailored to different organizational needs.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides a mature cloud infrastructure with extensive PaaS offerings such as AWS Elastic Beanstalk, which simplifies application deployment. Microsoft Azure offers a fiercely integrated environment especially beneficial for organizations already utilizing Microsoft tools, with Azure App Service providing an efficient platform for web and mobile app development. Google Cloud Platform is renowned for its data analytics and machine learning capabilities via services like Google App Engine and Cloud Functions, making it an attractive choice for data-driven applications.

Rationale for Choosing Microsoft Azure

Among these providers, I have selected Microsoft Azure to support my PaaS needs. Azure is a good fit over other providers primarily because of its seamless integration with existing Microsoft products like Windows Server, Office 365, and Visual Studio. This compatibility reduces the learning curve and accelerates deployment for organizations familiar with Microsoft ecosystems (Microsoft, 2022). Azure’s extensive global footprint provides reliable and scalable infrastructure, which is essential for supporting applications across different geographic locations. Furthermore, Azure’s commitment to security and compliance aligns with organizational requirements for data protection and regulatory adherence (Microsoft, 2022).
