Participation in experiential learning is essential to the development of group skills. In this section of the class, students will participate in a live mock therapy group of five or six students for five weeks. Each student will take turns being a group leader (or co-leader) for one week and a group member for the remaining four weeks. Students will reflect on the group processes each week through group logs and will submit a written description of their chosen group topic for their leadership week. The group topic should be appropriate for the classroom setting and not require significant self-disclosure. Suggested topics include self-care, planning for the future, or practicing therapy skills like CBT. Students may give their group members homework for no more than 30 minutes of preparation. Attendance is mandatory; makeup credit is not available. Grading will focus on the quality and detail of students’ reflections rather than the success of their group idea. Students must submit a one-paragraph statement describing their leadership topic and, if applicable, the homework assignment. Additional questions about experiential therapy groups can be submitted for clarification but will not be graded. In cases of co-leading, students should specify their responsibilities and indicate the co-leader's role in their submission.

This preparatory task aims to facilitate meaningful contributions during the group session and extend learning beyond the immediate meeting.
As the leader, my responsibilities will include guiding the discussion, ensuring all members have a chance to speak, and maintaining a respectful and focused environment. I will also be responsible for introducing the session topic, clarifying its relevance, and managing the time effectively. Collaboratively, my co-leader will assist with facilitating discussions, especially encouraging quieter members to share, and help monitor group dynamics. We will work together to ensure the session remains productive, supportive, and aligned with our objectives. Post-session, we will each complete individual logs reflecting on the group process, insights gained, and potential areas for future focus. The cooperation between the leader and co-leader will be essential for creating a cohesive and enriching group experience, and I will clearly delineate responsibilities in my submission to ensure transparency and effective teamwork.
