The business companies and organizations all over the globe have realized the significance of using the computer network as their means of achieving their goals as planned. Over a number of decades, many business firms found it very difficult to tackle their business operations which actually interfered with the business industry forcing some of the business firms to gain access to the international markets in countries away from their country of origin so that they meet their desires. The main reason being that the competition in the local market is high, but what is very essential here that the business firms should understand is the issues concerning networking.
The people who determine the company’s success are customers and the major concern is that how a company will acquire more customers than other related companies because a single company can become a threat to the other company. A company with an increased production and more customers can outweigh other business firms but the internet will now be a channel that customers will use in communication with the company. Global companies have their operations in various countries and many customers from every corner of the globe (Almor et al., 2014). This means that for the company to be able to reach its target in terms of the number of customers, the company will use the computer network to advertise whatever product it manufactures.
Via the same channel, the company representatives can also communicate effectively with the customers and also selling to take the same procedure. This is what mainly differentiates global companies from local business firms operating locally. Even at the moment there are some companies that emerged ten years ago but comparing their progress with the duration they have been in the market, you will get to understand that there are people who have never had any information concerning the companies because even their products are locally sold. Introducing the company into computer networking at its early stages becomes advantageous whereby many people will be aware of the company and any progress people will be notified via the internet.
Currently the use of networking has taken root to all parts of every country and despite the age group, people are using the internet therefore if a company is displaying its products on the internet and gives a link that customers will use than the chances of achieving productivity are high. Networking helps companies to identify suitable places to extend their operations. The company size and the amount of data generated will determine the network to use. There are three types of computer networks namely WAN, LAN and MAN (Rastogi, 2019). Local area network (LAN) is only suitable in small premises and it’s secure because no outside connection is allowed meaning the network users will enjoy the network.
The computers using LAN aren’t limited to wire connection but the new evolution allows for wireless connection. Wide area network (WAN) allows for connection in a wider geographical location like in continents, counties, states etc as compared to MAN and LAN. Through digital marketing strategies, firms can increase brand awareness, generate leads, and foster customer loyalty, thereby gaining a competitive edge in both local and international markets.

Computer networks enable real-time interaction through emails, chat platforms, and social media channels. This direct communication fosters better understanding of customer needs and preferences, allowing companies to tailor their offerings accordingly. For multinational corporations, internal communication across various branches and regions relies heavily on Wide Area Networks (WAN) and Local Area Networks (LAN). These networks support seamless data transfer and coordination, ensuring consistency and efficiency in operations (Rastogi, 2019).
The evolution of networking technologies has also paved the way for operational expansion and decision-making based on data analytics. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) utilize local area networks (LANs) for internal processes, ensuring security and quick access to information. Larger organizations operating across continents leverage WANs to enable communication and data sharing among dispersed offices. The choice of network type depends on factors such as organization size, geographical spread, and data volume. Wireless connectivity, through Wi-Fi and mobile networks, has further enhanced flexibility and mobility, allowing employees and managers to access information remotely and make timely decisions (Rastogi, 2019).
Furthermore, networking plays a significant role in identifying markets and locations for expansion. Data-driven insights derived from network analysis help organizations assess potential markets' viability and customer preferences. This strategic use of networks supports businesses in entering new markets with tailored marketing campaigns and localized services. Notably, smaller firms that adopt early networking strategies often benefit from increased visibility and rapid growth, as demonstrated by numerous case studies (Kim, 2015).
Social media networks, in particular, have revolutionized how companies interact with their communities. Platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn enable organizations to engage directly with consumers, enhance brand loyalty, and monitor market trends. Community service groups and professional networks foster collaborations and partnerships that further support business objectives. Such social networks provide cost-effective channels for branding, customer service, and reputation management, critical components for sustained business success in today’s interconnected world.
In conclusion, computer networking is integral to modern business strategy. It enhances marketing efforts, facilitates effective communication, supports operational expansion, and enables data-driven decision-making. As technology continues to evolve, organizations that leverage advanced networking solutions will be better positioned to adapt to changing market conditions and sustain competitive advantage. Future developments in networking technology, such as 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT), are expected to further transform business operations, making network literacy a fundamental competency for modern enterprises.
